We have been operating as a family business in Ennepetal, Germany, since our founding in 1823. We now manage companies in Germany, Europe, the US and Australia. In addition to our company origin, the manufacture of cold-formed fasteners, this also includes the production of intelligent porous membranes, injection-molded components, assembly and toolmaking, as well as a multi-award-winning vocational training center. We are focusing on promising sectors such as the woodworking trade, roof and facade construction, as well as the medical and life science sectors.

200 years of eventful history

1823

In 1823, ALTENLOH, BRINCK & CO was the first German company to start the industrial production of screws. The company acronym ABC becomes a recognized brand for fasteners of the highest quality.

1829

ABC quickly becomes a household name in various industries. First exports prove the beginning success.

1967

ABC revolutionizes wood construction with the introduction of the SPAX universal screw, which has since begun its worldwide triumph. The screw with its characteristic green packaging becomes synonymous with the modern universal screw par excellence for DIY enthusiasts and processors on all continents.

1989

With SPAX-S, ABC develops a screw with “bite”. Its patented serrated edge makes it particularly powerful, clearly setting it apart from its competitors at the time.

2003

The ALTENLOH, BRINCK & CO – Group establishes itself with the foundation of a holding company with 3 independent companies: SPAX® International, ABC Umformtechnik and AZ – Ausrüstung und Zubehör.

2006

The ALTENLOH, BRINCK & CO – Group acquires the US based company TRUFAST, a manufacturer of roofing fasteners. TRUFAST, now ALTENLOH, BRINCK & CO US (ABC US), is also the site of the SPAX production facility in Bryan, OH, USA.

2010

ABC acquires the majority shares in SABEU, a company based in Northeim, Germany, whose innovative solutions in injection molding and membrane production are in demand worldwide – in laboratories, in the packaging industry or in medical technology.

2014

SABEU is expanding. With the expansion of sales to Japan and Malaysia, the plastics and membrane expert is taking another step in the direction of internationalization.

2016

German world champion carpenter Simon Rehm becomes official brand ambassador for SPAX® International. In this role, he is clearly committed to the company and its quality products “made in Germany”.

2017

SPAX® celebrates its 50th anniversary as a brand product. The product was not only always technically up to date, but often enough also a bit ahead of its time.

2017

ABC US acquires Rodenhouse Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI. ABC US has long manufactured roofing fasteners under the TRUFAST brand. Rodenhouse extends this range with its innovative fasteners for walls and facades.

2021

40 years of TRUFAST: celebrating a success story – since 2001, the company’s sales have quadrupled. What started as a small production company for roofing screws, TRUFAST is now a sought-after manufacturer and supplier of screws, adhesives and ultrasonic welding systems.

2021

Sale of the majority shares in ABC Umformtechnik to a strategic investor. In order to meet the demands for international production sites and the expansion of the product groups, an ideal partner for the successful further development could be found in FAWER.

2023

The ABC – Group celebrates its 200th anniversary. With the companies SPAX® International GmbH & Co. KG, ALTENLOH BRINCK & CO US Inc. and SABEU GmbH & Co. KG, the ABC – Group can proudly look back on a long tradition – and is starting into the next century with its proven innovative spirit.
